Back End Engineer

Your role

We are seeking a versatile Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team, contributing to the full software development lifecycle. You will be primarily responsible for backend development, utilizing Java and JavaScript to build robust and scalable services. A key aspect of this role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining efficient data processing. You will further contribute by handling the operational aspects of application deployments, ensuring high availability and performance.

Your role requires a collaboration across teams, acting as a crucial bridge between frontend and backend development teams. You will facilitate effective communication and ensure seamless integration of APIs and services. You will participate in troubleshooting and optimizing existing systems and identify bottlenecks in both code and infrastructure. Maintaining and improving application deployments is a critical part of your role.

Qualifications

• Good understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, preferably a University level degree in Computer Science or equivalent education
• You have many years of experience of building products involving both architectural design, development and deployment, preferably in Java
• You have deep experience in developing server-side Java
• You are experienced with server-side JavaScript in node.js
• Proficient with operations in hosting environments, in particular with container-based deployments and system administration of a Linux stack
• Good understanding of Web Architecture, in particular HTTP and REST
• Knowledge of common data formats such as JSON, CSV and XML
• Experience of Software Engineering best practices such as API design, Continuous Integration, Test-Driven Development, and Design Patterns
• Experience of working in teams and agile projects
• Ability to communicate fluently in English and Swedish

Bonus skills

• Experience with ETL processes
• Experience of creating and shipping full fledged software products
• Experience implementing Software-as-a-Service for cloud environments
• Familiarity with W3C Semantic Web technologies and Linked Data (RDF, SPARQL, SHACL) and associated frameworks such as Eclipse RDF4J and Apache Jena
